Pro Training logo refresh

Umbro needs little introduction; they have been inspiring football and other sports since 1924, covering an enduring history and renowned legacy that started and continues to operate out of Manchester, England. Umbro Pro Training is part of that legacy and a mark that needs handling with the appropriate respect.

Originally appearing in the '90s, noticeably on England's training kit; the Pro Training design is distinctive, some may say a 'ballsy' mark that stood out even then. It spoke of an experimental generation and culture linking the 80's to the '00s. Umbro is well known for its 'real' approach to sports; they are there, doing 'it', and represent professionals and aspiring athletes alike.

Although an international sports' icon, the Pro Training logo required a refresh. We explored many angles from complete redesigns to maintaining an identical mark. The selected route stays identifiable and dynamic while becoming applicable to modern use. The result is a refresh that communicates its identifiable history while maintaining a contemporary and structured aesthetic.
